In the 1990s, when green roofs were a new, challenging, and untested project type, we realized that our expertise with durable high-performance sports fields could lead to green roofs that stood up to the effects of weather, heavy use, and a narrow soil profile.
We transferred our deep sports field knowledge base in irrigation, soils and subdrainage to the design of green roofs for museum sculpture gardens, outdoor performance spaces, city parks, and commercial projects. We are a founding member of Green Roofs for Health Cities and continue to work on green roof designs with many leading landscape architects.
