Missouri Botanical Garden

As a key technical partner in the transformative Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center at the Missouri Botanical Garden, JBC Landscape Architects engineered the advanced green infrastructure foundational to the project’s success and to the Garden’s world-class arrival experience. JBC led the design of comprehensive landscape support systems, including integrated irrigation and subdrainage networks, to ensure that every part of the site performs reliably under varying conditions.

A central focus of JBC’s work was the development of precision-engineered soil profiles tailored to the unique demands of high-performance planters, extensive planting beds, and sensitive areas surrounding the site’s existing historic trees. By applying advanced soil science and horticultural expertise, JBC worked with local suppliers to source various soil types to align with and support the planting design.

In coordination with the broader design and construction team, JBC integrated landscape strategies to meet the sustainability goals of the visitor center. This holistic approach not only protects the Garden’s living collections but also enhances long-term resilience, reducing maintenance demands and supporting thriving plant communities in both formal and naturalistic settings. JBC’s work on the Jack C. Taylor Visitor Center exemplifies how thoughtful design and landscape science can elevate both the performance and beauty of premier public spaces.
