JBC Landscape Architects (JBC) partnered with the University of Missouri to deliver a comprehensive redesign of the Varsity Women’s Softball Field and adjacent batting cage facilities. The project was driven by the university’s goal to meet NCAA Division I standards and elevate the field to a level capable of hosting regional rounds of the national championship tournament.

JBC’s scope of work included updated finish grading, a new field subdrainage system, an automatic irrigation system tailored for a natural turf outfield with a sand-based rootzone, and the relocation of bullpen areas—all while preserving the existing batting cages. The design also tackled longstanding drainage and grading challenges that had previously affected field performance.

The project was delivered on a tight budget and timeline. The result is a high-quality facility that continues to stand out within the Big XII Conference, combining top-tier playability with compliance to NCAA tournament standards.
