North Kansas City School District Athletic Complex
Kansas City, MO
JBC Landscape Architects collaborated with The Hollis & Miller Group and the North Kansas City School District to provide design and construction phase services for two new artificial “infill” athletic fields at the District Football Stadium and District Soccer Stadium. These stadiums were constructed as part of the new Staley High School campus, a state-of-the-art 64-acre facility and the first LEED-certified high school in Missouri.
JBC provided comprehensive design services for all playing field improvements, including grading, drainage, base construction, irrigation, and field surfacing programming. The firm also facilitated the artificial “infill” turf selection process, guiding the Owner through evaluation of bids and selection of the optimal field system for performance, durability, and budget.
During construction, JBC provided on-site observation and verification of base and turf installation, conducted milestone punch visits, and performed conformance testing, including infill levels and G-Max measurements, to ensure the completed fields met performance and safety standards. Once completed, the stadium fields provided high-performing, durable surfaces for student-athletes and the community.
