Missouri University of Science & Technology Campus Master Plan
Rolla, MO
JBC Landscape Architects (JBC) served as the lead campus planning landscape architect for Missouri University of Science and Technology’s (MU S&T) comprehensive campus master plan. With deep insight into both the physical and social fabric of the campus, JBC conducted detailed analyses across multiple dimensions including site conditions, land use, open space, landscape systems, blue infrastructure, impervious surfaces, irrigation networks, circulation, and parking.
As part of the master planning process, JBC facilitated targeted interviews with Facilities Operations and the Director of Athletics to identify long-term opportunities for campus athletic and recreation areas. These conversations revealed a clear need for a unified vision for MU S&T’s athletic district.
In response, JBC developed a comprehensive athletic district plan to better support high-volume programming for recreational, intramural, and club sports. The plan also set a forward-looking vision to help the University align its intercollegiate athletic facilities with those of peer institutions, positioning the district for future growth, improved function, and greater student engagement.
