Montgomery Bell Academy Soccer Stadium

Nashville, Tennessee

When Montgomery Bell Academy set out to construct a new athletic field atop a two-story parking garage, the design team turned to JBC Landscape Architects for their expertise in both high-performance sports field design and designing on top of structures. Working in collaboration with Hastings Architecture and Barge Cauthen & Associates, JBC provided landscape architectural services, including construction documentation and construction administration, for this ambitious project in the heart of the Nashville campus. The completed facility features a full-size synthetic turf soccer field with bleacher seating, a limited irrigation system, and protective perimeter netting. The multipurpose field also accommodates lacrosse, football, and large campus events.

JBC’s role involved close coordination with structural, MEP, and architectural consultants throughout design to ensure that all rooftop systems functioned effectively as an integrated whole. Addressing the complex technical challenges of building an athletic field over a parking structure, JBC collaborated with the design team to develop solutions that reduced overall structural loading and helped control project costs.

Once completed, the project delivered an innovative and space-efficient athletic facility that enhances both the performance capabilities and daily life of the Montgomery Bell Academy community.
