LeClaire Parks and Recreation Master Plan - LeClaire, Iowa
Situated along a beautiful bend on the upper Mississippi River at its intersection with Interstate 80, LeClaire is known for numerous historic and cultural features and events.
The Parks & Recreation Master Plan was commissioned after LeClaire hired its first Parks & Recreation Director in 2022. Designed to take inventory of existing infrastructure, programs, and resources, the master plan looks to build on opportunities within the City's resources with a framework for phased future development.
The Master Plan process, including extensive community engagement both online and in-person, outlines the most appropriate approach to accomplish the city’s goals. These included:
- Prioritizing park growth and accessibility for all members of the community
- Creating cost estimates for ongoing park maintenance and operations
- Identifying park growth opportunities and upgrades to existing parks
- Creating a realistic recreation program for the community
- Identifying future facilities based on community need and use trends with emphasis on aquatic facilities
- Evaluating the current trail system map to recommend alignment with the Master Plan
The Parks and Recreation Master Plan provides the community with a road map to develop its park system, create a recreation program, and recognize the benefits of partnering with others to add to the quality of life in LeClaire.
