Community Visioning - Moville, IA

JBC Landscape Architects guided Moville through a community visioning process focused on enhancing transportation corridors, strengthening community identity, and improving pedestrian and recreational connectivity. Working with Trees Forever field staff and Iowa State University partners, the team engaged residents and stakeholders through surveys, focus groups, and assessments of sidewalks, trails, parks, and other community assets to identify opportunities for safer, more connected, and visually appealing public spaces.

The steering committee identified several priorities: improving accessibility and sidewalks, expanding trail connections, updating wayfinding and signage to support a cohesive community identity, and enhancing downtown and Frontage Road aesthetics. These goals shaped a coordinated set of concept plans addressing trails, park improvements, sidewalk safety, streetscape upgrades, and signage strategies.

The resulting vision provides Moville with a clear, actionable roadmap for phased implementation, supporting connectivity, recreational access, and downtown revitalization while reinforcing the city’s character and identity.
