Community Visioning - Leon, IA

JBC worked closely with the City of Leon to provide a detailed set of schematic visualizations to assist them in their pursuit of grant funding.

Leon’s Main Street includes a great variety of shops, cafes, and community resources. However, the area of Main Street to the west of the courthouse needs a more unified appearance and to address the following to create a friendly and open streetscape design:

  • Mitigate stormwater impact with green infrastructure

  • Create safe pedestrian crosswalks

  • Provide accessible curbside entry

  • Reduce problematic paving

JBC incorporated the use of Best Management Practices in the proposed bump-outs. These BMPs will mitigate stormwater issues and provide more vegetation throughout the town square.
