Community Visioning - Farragut, IA

JBC Landscape Architects partnered with Farragut through the Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning Program, helping residents explore ways to strengthen transportation connections and enhance local amenities. Supported by Trees Forever field staff and Iowa State University’s design team, the community participated in surveys, focus groups, and a thorough assessment of transportation conditions and local resources.

Through this process, the steering committee identified key priorities: improving sidewalks and accessibility, upgrading Farragut City Park and its connections, adding amenities at trailheads, and creating a safe, dedicated bus stop for students who travel to school in Sidney. These priorities guided a set of design concepts focused on safer routes, stronger community connections, and enriched recreation spaces.

The resulting vision offers a clear roadmap for future improvements, one that supports walkability, strengthens public spaces, and enhances the everyday experience for residents of all ages.
