Community Visioning - Alleman, IA

JBC Landscape Architects partnered with Alleman through the Iowa’s Living Roadways Community Visioning Program, helping the community shape a cohesive plan for safer, more connected transportation corridors. Working with Trees Forever field staff and Iowa State University’s design team, the process brought residents, stakeholders, and local leaders together for surveys, focus groups, and assessments of key transportation, natural, and recreational assets.

Through this collaborative work, the steering committee highlighted several priorities: improved pedestrian connectivity, stronger community identity through signage and wayfinding, enhanced park spaces, and expanded recreation opportunities. These goals guided the development of a comprehensive set of design concepts focused on trail and sidewalk connections, park improvements, natural resource enhancements, and beautification strategies.

The resulting vision provides Alleman with a thoughtful roadmap for future project implementation, one that strengthens community identity, supports active transportation, and enhances quality of life across the community.
