The
vision for building the $27 million sports complex at Kapolei, Oahu is to position
Hawaii as a leader in the international sports industry. Designed to AAA-level
professional baseball standards, the Kapolei Sports Recreational Complex feature
a 4,000-seat lighted baseball stadium (expandable to 8,000 seats) with grass
area seating for an additional 2,000 spectators. The facility also includes
four full-size practice fields, two practice infields, a team clubhouse, a perimeter
running path, and public parking.
Plans are to use the facilities throughout the year for AAA-level professional
baseball, Japanese professional baseball spring training, and high school and
college baseball tournaments. The facilities will also be used for Olympic training.
JBC has completed a sportsturf feasibility study that evaluates various athletic
field technologies as they relate to the project site.
