In
early 1997, Amity Regional School District #5 asked JBC to develop a master
plan for the Amity Regional Senior High School site. The master plan was then
developed into a final design which became the bases for a set of construction
documents for the development of the site.
The construction was completed in October, 1998. Mitigation of site constraints
such as shallow bedrock depths and preservation of existing vegetation and wetland
areas made the design construction a challenge.
Four new multiple-use fields, a new full-size football field, and eight new
tennis courts were built. The existing baseball and softball fields were reconstructed
to eliminate overlap, allowing concurrent use of these facilities. A new eight-lane
metric track, high quality football/soccer field, and 1500-seat grandstand with
pressbox were built to replace the existing stadium facilities.
