The design team of Jeffery L. Bruce & Company, LLC., George Butler Associates and Susan Richards Johnson, AIA was selected to provide the City of Olathe Parks Department with a Master Plan for the newly acquired property located on Lone Elm and 167th Street. This property will become the first new park property for the city for the new Millennium. The purpose of the new park is to first provide the citizens of Olathe and Johnson County with a community park in an area that continues to grow rapidly. Projected uses within the park will be a new softball complex for the Olathe Girls Softball Association, new soccer complex for the Olathe Soccer Association and other recreational facilities to serve the growing population of Olathe. Another element of the property and new park is the history of the property and its relationship to the Oregon, Santa Fe and California Trail. The selection of this property, by the city, has ensured its preservation and will allow future visitors the opportunity to visit and learn about the Lone Elm Campground. Our design team is privileged to have the opportunity to develop the master plan for this new park and provide to the community a recreational facility for the citizens of Olathe and we are committed to preserving the heritage of Olathe and the historical treasure this property holds.
