The final concept integrated many of the different elements into a common theme. A large statue piece was designed that could be seen from much of the city of Leavenworth due to the hilltop location of the site. This piece would serve as the origination point for a stream that would cascade down the hillside to a collecting pond. Native grasses and trees would surround this scene and would add beauty to the site while decreasing the maintenance requirements currently necessary to maintain the site. A walkway would meander through this hillside meadow and would have historic and botanical signage located at nodes in the path where there would also be opportunities for seating. Areas adjacent to buildings and roads would receive a higher level of maintenance so that the green lawn spaces and colorful plantings in these zones would create a beautiful contrast with the native vegetation elsewhere.
The ultimate outcome becomes a building situated on the hill and framed by a combination of formal and native vegetation which the employees, patients, and guests can enjoy.
